Sculptural Demonstration
Joseph Beuys invites Bjørn Nørgaard to Düsseldorf to perform Sculptural demonstration to his action Manresa at Galerie Schmela, Düsseldorf, Germany. Henning Christiansen participated as well.
In the letter from Joseph Beuys to Henning Christiansen it says: Could you find out if it is possible for me to have the young man who did the piece with the feet at Kongens Gade, the one with the beautiful nose and the harelip, long blonde hair, I think he was called Bjørn Nørgaard? (or was his name Davidsen?) - if I could have fim 1 or 2 days in Düsseldorf? Journey and lodgings can be paid for. On 19 December I could find a good use for him in my piece Manresa. The conditions are: 1. He must repeat the same things as in Kongensgade > stamp feet in a bowl of brown song… later on cardboard bow with plaster feet etc. 2. He must wear the same suit as in Kongensgade, same shoes etc. 3. He must bring the same piece of tape that was played very loudly on the first night and then suddenly stopped. On it, the word ‘recherche’ was repeated at short intervals.
